Skyline football trounces Blanchet for first win of season
In a non-conference home game on Friday night, Skyline routed Bishop Blanchet with a final score of 44-7.
The Spartans Beck Walker put Skyline on the board with the first touchdown of the game early in the first quarter. The Spartans would own not only the first quarter and the first half but the entire game. They completed the first quarter with two touchdowns and a safety for a score of 16-0.
The Spartan domination continued in the second quarter, but Blanchet would not remain scoreless. On a long pass to Kade Bergman for their first and only touchdown, Blanchet finally got on the board.
That would be the only time they scored for the rest of the game. The Spartans answered with a fifty-yard bomb to Beck Walker for his second touchdown of the game, widening the gap to 23-7. The Spartans would continue to frustrate Blanchet with a fumble recovery and another long, 90-yard touchdown pass to Joaquin Valdez. They walked off the field at halftime with a score of 30-7.
It looked as though Blanchet would score again after Kade Bergman intercepted a Skyline pass to put Blanchet on the 20-yard line and in scoring position. But the clock would run out for Blanchet, ending the third quarter with Skyline up 37-7.
Skyline would continue to rack up points. With one more touchdown in the fourth quarter on a 6-yard pass by Joaquin Valdez, the game would end at 44-7.
Skyline (1-2) will face Mt. Si in a conference matchup Friday, Sept. 24 at home at 7:00 p.m.
