Skyline football capitalizes on Redmond mistakes for third win of season
The Skyline Spartans reigned victorious over the Redmond Mustangs in a decisive 24-9 victory on Friday evening.
The Spartans had a solid start delivering the first touchdown of the game. A series of turnovers by both teams running down the clock allowed only Redmond to counter with a touchdown three minutes left in the quarter. A missed kick for the extra point ended the quarter with Spartans up 7-6.
Early in the second quarter, Skyline increased their margin with a pick 6, and making good on the extra point, put the Spartans up 14-6.
Skyline added to the scoreboard again, taking possession of the ball on a Mustang fumble just before the first half ended. Adding a 1-yard rushing touchdown, the Spartans had a 21-6 lead at halftime.
Redmond fought back in the third quarter but only managed a 3-point gain on a field goal. Skyline retaliated with their own field goal in the fourth quarter to finish the game at 24-9.
Skyline’s (3-4) next game will be its homecoming game against the North Creek Jaguars on Friday, Oct. 22 at 7:00 p.m.
