Rotary Club plans Christmas tree sale at Pine Lake to fund scholarships
The Sammamish Rotary Club is organizing a Christmas tree fundraiser to provide the community with a new option for decorate their home for the holidays while contributing to a worthy cause.
Starting on Nov. 26, the club will be selling freshly cut Christmas trees at Pine Lake Park.
Their tree lot will feature four types of fir trees — Noble, Douglas, Fraser, and Nordmann — with sizes ranging from 4 to 9 feet, at prices ranging from $50 to $130.
The operation will be entirely staffed by volunteers. Proceeds from tree lot will help fund scholarships for graduating seniors at the three high schools in Sammamish, as well as for students at Lake Washington Institute of Technology and Renton Technical College.
“We have never done this in Sammamish before, but we do know that this is the only place in Sammamish where you can buy your Christmas tree and help fund a scholarship,” said Mardie Rhodes, development director for Sammamish Rotary.
She said that if this fundraiser is successful, they hope to make it an annual event.
Scholarship applications will open in March, and recipients of the high school scholarships are scheduled to be announced in May.
The Rotary Club tree lot at Pine Lake Park will be open from Nov. 26 to Dec. 19. Hours are Wednesday to Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. The lot will be open for special hours on Nov. 26 (Black Friday) from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m.
