Skyline football shuts out Kentlake
The Skyline Spartans defeated the Kentlake Falcons with a crushing 42-0 victory on Friday evening.
Skyline started strong, putting the first points on the board when quarterback Joaquin Valdez found running back TJ Crandall for the first touchdown of the night, giving Skyline the early 7-0 lead.
After a quick 3 and out forced Kentlake to punt, Skyline wasted no time adding to the board. Valdez quickly found a receiver down field, scoring the second Spartan touchdown on a pass to the end zone for a 14-0 Skyline advantage.
But the Spartans were not satisfied with a two-touchdown lead and kept the momentum going. Valdez connected with wide receiver Aidyn Clark not once, but twice, before the end of the first half to stretch the lead to 28-0.
The third quarter started similarly well for the Spartans. Valdez quickly found wide receiver Mike Roni for a pass that led to a long touchdown run. The Spartans now had a significant 35-0 lead over the Falcons.
Kentlake found their end zone and their defensive line overwhelmed one more time before the night was over when Skyline’s Michael Grimmer connected with tight end Bronson Terpastra for the final touchdown of the game.
Sadly for the Falcons, a frustrated Kentlake offense never saw the end zone during the game and the Spartans brought home the resounding 42-0 victory,
The Skyline Spartans (4-5) will face-off against the Glacier Peak Grizzlies (6-2) for a final away, non-conference game at 7:00 p.m. on Nov. 5. This game was recently added the Skyline’s schedule.
