Eastlake basketball gets blown out by Mt. Si
In the boys’ fourth game of the season, the Eastlake Wolves fell short in a 76-41 loss against Mt. Si Wildcats at home on Tuesday.
The Wildcats started strong in the first quarter, quickly outpacing the Wolves with a four-point lead. Mt. Si’s Miles Heide managed to pull down multiple rebounds, giving himself and Blake Forrest several field goal opportunities to help the Wildcats take the early lead. However, two blocks and a three-pointer by Luke Wiljanen, as well as two more three-pointers from Cooper Brown kept the Wolves in the game.
But the Wolves were not so lucky in the second quarter. Several mistakes and turnovers by Eastlake provided Mt. Si the chance to score unanswered points. Efforts spearheaded by Forrest and Bennet O’Conner allowed the Wildcats to widen their advantage to 36-20 at halftime.
The Wolves attempted to push back in the second half, leaning on Will Woodward’s height to get possession of the ball through rebounds. Unfortunately, consistent shooting from Trevor Henning and Heide of Mt. Si prevented the Wolves from closing the gap.
The fourth quarter provided no relief. Despite back-to-back threes from Woodward and Brown, the Wolves still lost 76-41.
Overall, the floor belonged to Mt. Si, who led in rebounds, steals and field goals.
Eastlake’s (2-2) next game will be against Issaquah (1-3) at home on Friday, Dec. 17 at 8:00 p.m.
