Sammamish Kiwanis to host Ski & Sport Swap this fall
Do not throw away your old snow gear!
Every year, after the ski season winds down, tons of old ski and snowboarding gear are added to junkyards across the nation. The Kiwanis Club of Sammamish started the Ski & Sport Swap to reduce this waste and put this equipment back in use. Through this event, community members can recycle gear while fundraising for charity.
This year’s Ski & Sport Swap will take place Oct. 21 to 22 at the Pine Lake Covenant Church.
Community members are asked to donate their used winter sport gear such as skis, snowboards, boots, and poles as well as clothing items like hats and snow jackets. Equipment for all skills and age levels is welcomed.
All donated items will then be sold at the Ski & Sport Swap event. A percentage of each sale will be donated to the Kiwanis Foundation Fund, which supports children’s charities around the world. The fund supports programs in education, literacy, youth leadership development, health, and nutrition. Any leftover items at the event will be available for donors to take back home.
To make a donation of winter sports gear, Kiwanis asks that it be brought to Pine Lake Covenant Church on Friday, Oct. 21, between 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Donors will then have exclusive access to a presale from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. This allows donors to review and buy desired items before the sale is extended to the general public, which will happen on Saturday, Oct. 22, starting at 9:00 a.m. and going until 2:00 p.m.
“Our annual Kiwanis Ski & Sport Swap has become our signature event,” said Heidi Hodges, the president of Sammamish Kiwanis. “It’s so exciting to see individuals and families come and shop for quality gear at great prices! Recycling at its best!”
