Skyline boys soccer dominates Inglemoor
The Skyline Spartans delivered a 6-0 shutout victory against the Inglemoor Vikings Friday night, with James Cairns scoring a hat trick for the win.
Early in the game, Skyline’s Hudson Moore defended against the Vikings’ offense and prevented them from taking an early lead. Soon after, midfielder Austin Shepherd assisted Cairns with the first goal of the game for Skyline, 1-0.
The Vikings’ forwards pressured Skyline’s defense, but goalkeeper Adam Shahpurwala made several clutch saves throughout the night. A throw-in for Skyline resulted in a second goal by Kaleb Truong with an assist by Kyle Kropp, 2-0. In the minutes until halftime, Kropp assisted another goal, this time by Cairns, to give Skyline a 3-0 lead to end the period.
To open the second half, Kropp assisted Skyline’s fourth goal, and Cairns’ third, bringing the score to a solid, insurmountable 4-0 lead for Skyline. Shahpurwala made several more outstanding saves, shutting out Inglemoor completely from the net.
Cairns assisted a fifth goal for Skyline by forward Bashir Kaddoura, and another shot on goal by Aaditya Sanas which was unfortunately declared offsides. To end the night, a corner kick for Skyline resulted in a header goal from Truong, bringing the score to 6-0.
“James [Cairns] is always in the right place at the right time, he just finds the net, and Kaleb [Truong] being a center back, they don’t score much, so when they do, you gotta give it to ‘em,” assistant coach Ryan Jackson said.
