Skyline Dominates North Creek 5–1
The Skyline Spartans dominated the North Creek Jaguars on Saturday, May 3, securing their second straight win and ending their 2025 regular season play with a 5-1 victory.
Skyline dominated the match with North Creek, scoring three goals in the first half and two in the second. The Jaguars managed their single goal in the second half but could not catch a break when it mattered most. In the end, the Jaguars fell to the Spartans in a 5-1 rout for the home team.
With aggressive play from Skyline defender Scott Barrett, the Spartans took the ball toward the Jaguar goal early. Skyline nearly broke through, but North Creek goalkeeper Henrik Dahlgren blocked the shot, rebounding the ball to Spartan’s Cruz Rivera. As Cruz Rivera’s shot bounced off the goal post, Jiaqi Chen was there for the Spartans. Chen got the assist to Bashir Kaddoura for a shot on goal that flew into the upper right corner of the net for a 1-0 Skyline lead.
As the Spartans continued to pressure the Jaguar goal, frustrations mounted for North Creek. After an overly aggressive push by the visiting team, Skyline was granted a free kick. This time, Rivera passed to Daanish Syed for the shot on goal. Even though Dahlgren got a hand on the ball, he could not stop it from hitting the back of the net; 2-0 Skyline.
The Spartans took advantage of the little time left in the first half. Kostas Rivera threw an out-of-bounds ball into Chen who moved downfield quickly for the shot. Dahlgren managed to deflect the attempt off the side of his foot, but his uncontrolled block went head high to Spartan Maxwell Grenham. Grenham’s headed ball dropped in front of Chen at the opposite side of the net, making it unreachable for Dahlgren. This ended the first half with a comfortable 3-0 advantage for Skyline.
The second half was more of the same – frustration for North Creek and goals for Skyline. As the half opened, Kaddoura easily flew past the Jaguar defenders and slotted the ball into the net for a 4-0 Spartan lead.
After a brief back-and-forth, a foul from North Creek gave Cooper Logue a free kick for Skyline. This put the ball into the penalty box, where Austin Shepherd booted it in to score the fifth Spartan goal.
Not willing to settle for a goose egg, the Jaguars fought hard to get on the board. A well-placed throw-in to Alex Vora for North Creek allowed the Jaguars to avoid embarrassment with a quick shot on goal for their first and only score of the game.
In the end, the North Creek Jaguars fell 5-1 to the Skyline Spartans for the final game of regular season play.
The Skyline Spartans ended their regular season with a league record of 5-6 and an overall record of 6-9.
