Eastlake comes out on top against Mt. Si
On Friday, Oct. 10th, the Eastlake Wolves defeated the Mt. Si Wildcats in a 16–7 defensive battle at Eastlake High School.
While both teams were eager to score, their defensive lines were on top of their game and refused to let anyone break through. The Wolves put up the only points in the first half when kicker Benjamin Byeman added a field goal in the first quarter for a 3-0 lead for Eastlake.
Vying for a more comfortable lead after the half time break, the home team came out with a new strategy. Despite numerous penalties delaying play, the Wolves were not discouraged. Catching a nearly 50-yard pass, Landon Johnson snatched the ball out of the air, beat the Mt. Si defender near the goal line, and scored Eastlake’s first touchdown of the night. With the extra point, the score was 10–0, Wolves, at the end of the third quarter.
Facing defeat, the Wildcats fought back in the fourth. Scotty Corder had an incredible play, out running two Eastlake defenders while catching a pinpoint pass to score Mt. Si’s first and only touchdown of the game. With the extra point, the gap closed, 10-7.
To ensure a win in the final quarter, the Wolves handed the ball to reliable running back Myles Johnson, who slipped through the defensive line and scored their second touchdown, bringing the score to 16-7. With time running out, the Wolves were unable to kick the extra point, happy to have a victory.
While Colton Stiles threw 139 yards for the Wildcats, Myles Johnson was the key to the Eastlake victory rushing for a total of 221 yards and one touchdown.
The Eastlake Wolves will face the Bellevue Wolverines at Bellevue High School on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025, at 5 p.m.
