Skyline football head coach Pelluer reinstated
Skyline High School Head Football Coach Peyton Pelluer was reinstated on Tuesday, Oct. 21, following a temporary suspension.
Coach Pelluer was relieved of his coaching duties on Friday, Oct. 17, hours before the team was scheduled to play the Woodinville Falcons. As a result, he did not attend the game.
Following that Friday night game, in a show of solidarity, the entire football coaching staff resigned. Additionally, Coach Gino Simone announced the staff’s resignation on his social media account(s). His post included a description of what he believed to be the reason for the suspension:
“We understand that this action stemmed from complaints regarding player participation. However, it is clear that a very small but vocal minority of parents has been allowed to exert outsized influence over our program, spreading misinformation and slander about Coach Pelluer and the coaching staff” he said.
Pelluer’s reinstatement was announced to Skyline families and players via FinalForms, the online athletic registration and management system used for student athletes. The announcement informed athletes that there would be a practice that afternoon, following a meeting with coaches, athletes and the school administration.
While Pelluer has been reinstated, the district has not released any details at this time. However, in regard to the district-conducted investigation, the FinalForms announcement noted that “all allegations deserve a thorough review to maintain consistency and ensure compliance with district regulations.”
In response, Coach Simone added an update to his recent Facebook post.
“Our staff is thrilled to be back on the field with our student athletes and our head coach, Peyton Pelluer, today. We, as a staff, are eager to dive back into the game plan and continue investing in these young men every day,” Simone said.
With the reinstatement of Coach Pelluer and the entire coaching staff, Skyline will spend the rest of the week preparing for Friday night’s Senior Night game.
The Skyline Spartans will play the Mt. Si Wildcats at Skyline High School at 7 p.m.
