Three youth journalists receive scholarships from Sammamish Independent
The Sammamish Independent provides annual scholarships to the youth who make our newspaper possible. This year, three youth journalists are each receiving a $2,000 scholarship.
Each scholarship recipient has spent countless hours researching, doing interviews, writing and editing their stories. Our newspaper thrives because of their effort, and so does our community, which stays informed by the stories that these journalists work so hard to publish.
We would like to recognize our three scholarship recipients, with their own words as they reflect on their experience writing for the Sammamish Independent.

“I think a certain amount of energy and enthusiasm in The Indy has to be maintained, starting from editors and flowing down to reporters, to ensure a sense of community and achievement despite our online format, that everyone must work hard to build and to continue.”
