Skyline boys basketball season ends in loss to Issaquah
The Skyline Spartans boys basketball team wrapped up their 2024-25 season on Saturday, Feb. 15, with a hard-fought but disappointing loss to the Issaquah Eagles, 74-46.
Issaquah won the tip-off, but Skyline struck first with a 3-pointer from Noah Coffaro. The Eagles quickly responded with a 3-pointer from Jackson Battistoni, setting the stage for a competitive first quarter. Coffaro continued to showcase his skill, draining several threes to keep Skyline in the game. By the end of the quarter, Issaquah held a narrow 13-12 lead.
What first appeared to be a close competition took a turn in the second quarter. The Issaquah offense found its rhythm early, boosting their score with two 3-pointers from Lukas Klosterman. Coffaro continued to score for Skyline, adding multiple threes but the Spartans struggled to close the gap. By halftime, the Eagles had outscored the Spartans 21-9, increasing the divide to 34-21.
The third quarter saw aggressive play from both teams; however, Skyline could not stop the Issaquah offense. Despite a determined effort from the Spartans, including another 3-pointer from Coffaro, the Eagles maintained control, ending the quarter with a double-digit, 51-35, lead.
In the final quarter, the trio of Klosterman, William Hawk, and Mac Pond powered the Eagles offense, collectively scoring over 20 points while keeping the Spartans at bay. With a consistent performance in the closing minutes, Issaquah secured a 74-46 victory, eliminating Skyline from the playoffs.
